Connections on pads between overlapped components

$

Hi every one

I have design with 2  BOM warians where two symbols from  different BOM variants overlapped each other :

this is  4-port rj45 connector and 1-port rj45 connector

The problem is that I can not  complete rattsnest on the same pads.

It seems routing etches automatically deleted  from  second component : after any routing i try to move 1-port connector with option "slide etch" and i see there is no etches on them, EVEN i select right pad before routing using tab button.

How can i solve this?

If there  any checkbox in Cadence options that tells  that if etch vertex is located inside pad area, that connection marked as routed?

Is there any way to have constraint manager run analysis on all nets and all columns when you open a screen automatically?

SPB 17.2 problem

Hi,

I've just Installed 17.2 but behaves a little bit strange.
A new Analog or Mixed A/D project opens with all the simulation buttons enabled even if no profile was previously created.
The same is true for the PSpice menu. Each item is enabled so its context sensitiveness fails to work.
The main problem is that neither of these buttons or menus work at all.

Why Hierarchical Variant disabled in Allegro Design Entry HDL 16.6-2015

$

The User guide PDF suggests three reasons, but doesn't explicitly say how to solve it:

1) "There is no variant information in the lower-level block (reusable block)."

>I have created variant data for my lower level block. I then copy and paste the lower level block's windows folder into the worklib of my main project. Is that enough?

2) "Variants are not defined for the top-level block."

>What does this mean? That I need to create variants for my top-level block as well? Why? I did this, doesn't make a difference.

3) "The block has not been identified for hierarchical variants."

>What does this mean?

Matched Lengths using constraint manager

Has anyone used constraint manager to do matched lengths. I find that there are lots of bugs in using constraint manager and relative prop delay. Just curious if anyone else does this and how dos it work for you.

Hi..

I had installed the orcad 16.6 with the hotfix of 046 update. So i am able to work on that clearly. But while i am mapping the components on Step mapping option, the corresponding step symbols in the mapping files are not get visibled.

I had checked the installed folder too. But the directory was empty.I don't know what mistake i had done.

I had tried to reinstall it. But i cant able to find it.

Thanks & regards.

Microvia hole to line clearance. No DRC error ?

I am using micro vias and set the line to hole clearance at 8 mils. It is enabled in constraints  and should produce a drc error. Even if I place the trace through the microvia hole I do not get a DRC error. Am I missing something ?

hi have built a citcuit in pspice a regulator circuit with pass transistors for more current i am using igbts but when i run a smoke analysis its tells me the max power dissipation is is to high for the igbt's but its only 24 watts when the max power disipation is 200 watts according to the datasheet but in the rated column is states it is rated at 3.669 watts so i went into the model editor and tried a few values in the power dissipation column and max juction temperature but that rated value would not change when i altered the parameters of the igbt so i don't know whats going on please could someone help i am desperate thanks

How to update parts already placed from the Database

Hello,

I've been using Design Entry Cis 16.6 and I have an already finished big schematic with all components added from a Part Database (which is configured on the company's network).

All the components have a property which is the company's code.

The thing is, all the codes have been recently changed and I need to update the new values to the components placed on the schematic. Is there an easy way to do it? When I go to the Part Manager all the now changed component shows "Undefined", ever since I changed the companys code on the Database file. I do have a backup of the old database file (before the changes, all the parts were recognized there as from the database).

I created an irregular padstack and the routing trace connected to the center of the pad where it has no copper (irregular shape). How can I move the connecting point to somewhere it has copper on it?

Allegro PCB editor; Auto rename refdes issue.

$

HI,

My issue is that when I run a Automatic rename refdes, a few parts are left out from being updated.
These parts keep their refdes, the other parts are updated, no duplicate of refdes.

I have checked properties, and these parts do not have "hard_location" properties set or alike.

To me, it looks like there is a part of the board that is not included when renamed.
(If I move the part to a different location on the board, it is included when renamed)

What and how can this be?
How do I change it?

Best Regards,

Martin.

Ref Des control with Heterogeneous parts spanning multiple pages

$

I've implemented ref des control on my schematic and have a heterogeneous part that spans multiple pages.  This part is U1 in my schematic.  U1-1 appears on page 1 and U1-2 appears on page 2.  Page 1 has the ref des control set from 1 to 99 and page 2 has control set from 100 to 199.  When I annotate my design, I get an error saying that "part reference U1 is out of range" and annotation stops.  How can I fix this?

Board Geometry OUTLINE subclass warning

Hi,

I have always used the Board Geometry OUTLINE subclass for my board outlines.  My board house wants a 1 mil trace on one of the layers as the board outline, so I've been using that subclass and including BOARD GEOMETRY/OUTLINE Gerber Film Record in the Artwork Control Form.  Since upgrading to 17.2, I am getting the warning: "WARNING(SPMHA2-118): Board Geometry subclasses, DESIGN_OUTLINE and CUTOUT are the preferred subclasses for defining a board outline..."  DESIGN_OUTLINE won't let me define a line width, and so doesn't really help me.

What is the reason for this warning?  Can I just ignore it?

Thanks!

John

Problem with rotating component using iangle

Hi,

At the moment I'm using Allegro 17.2. For rotating components I use the iangle function: funckey r iangle 90

Normally it rotates the component perfectly in placementedit mode, but for some designs it doesn't rotate and I get a weird response: Element is already set to this angle.

How can I fix this problem?

How to set zoom button factor settings in pcb editor?

Hi..,

I am using the Allegro PCB editor 16.6, In that while i try to zoom the specifie component means i want to scroll three to four times. For our indian standard, currently we are using mm (units). In Orcad  layout i will put the settings to be given. The sample image is attached.

For display resolution whats the zoom factor and settings to be given for normal zoom in & out.  Incase i want to place a new componet means i have to zoom it more and more inside. So i am getting to irritated while placing the components. While i had searched for the some pcb editor tutorials too, but not clear in that.

So anyone provide a solution for this problem which i facing. Me need the zoom factor settings to place components quickly. Any other settings to be given more any other way.

I had checked the windows 7 theme too. It's also in win 7 areo style.

PADS import Error

Hi,

I have found some PCB symbols for a component - LTM8001 - which are in PADS format. I was going to use Allegro-> import-> CAD Translators-> pads to convert this symbol to allegro format. However, I saw the file format is *.PCB not *.asc!. Anyway, I selected this file and tried to translate it but during translation I received below Error message:

Translating C:/Users/MyPC/Desktop/pads/LTM8001.PCB.
Using translator version @(#)$CDS:  pads_in.exe v16-6-112A 9/13/2012 Copyr 2012 CADENCE DESIGN SYSTEMS.
Reading PADS ASCII file header.
PARSE ERROR: Unrecognized format in header line of input file.
Line 1:  PCB 4.0 Binary File
ERROR: Finished with errors.

Could anybody help me find the source of problem?

Am I doing something wrong? I am wondering what the differences between .asc and .PCB are for PADS files.

I should add that I am sure this is not Altium PCB file format, the provider - Linear - insists that is a PADS file.

Thanks in advance,

Hossein
