I am trying to create a library part of a schematic symbol that has no PCB footprint as a dummy part which will have no true connectivity. This is to add clarity to what a schematic is doing by displaying off board parts (power FET's etc) but that have wire termination points.
I have created a symbol, but packaging does not function as the items have no PCB footprint.
How do I instruct the packager to ignore these items (they do not have any Reference designators).

Is anyone doing exports to Solidworks? Our engineer would like to export all the layers from Allegro to solidworks. The simple export seems to work, but it doesn't capture everything he wants. Is anyone doing anything like this?

For orcad installs we setup our working directory on our network drive.
We decided to add EDM library to our orcad environment.,
Now when we are installing EDM or the Data Management Key it notices that working files are on the networking so its defaults the location to that
After installing, we have EDM tab in capture and everything works.
The problem we are running into that the desktop icon EDM when we try to launch it we t get his:
Now if i uninstall the EDM key and try to reinstall and change the destination to local drive C:
EDM tab disappears from the capture but desktop icon works for EDM dont get license error.
Im at a loss

I have Orcad 17.2 professional license but after licensing it I can't run the full version. It always runs in Lite version. How can I run full version of Orcad Capture CIS? Even I removed and reinstalled the license manager, still launches Lite version. Should I remove all orcad features and make a clean installation? Also I am having problem with licensing. I may have written path for cdslmd incorrect in the line DAEMON line. Can you please also tell me what for should be the path and how should be the format of that line?

I have a circuit that I want so simulate iteratively ( an Analog Neural Network). After one transient simulation, after 100us,, I will read the voltage of one node. I will then use that voltage as a global parameter to set initial conditions in the next transient simulation. Is there any way to do this with orcad-pspice? I am willing to use other tools such as matlab and python. I tried the slps option in pspice, but I'm having troubles trying to make it work. I will post another thread regarding this problem. Thanks
So I have a multilevel schematic that I want to simulate using SLPS. Here is a screenshot of the top level:
I have followed all the steps in the slps user guide, but I can't make It work. After putting in an SLPS block and double clicking to set up the project file, I get the following error
It gets stuck in reading als file, and the input sources aren't visible
I have upgraded from 17.0 to 17.2 lite. But now, when I click on the properties of each component, they still point to the old library path as shown below:
It's the same with the design cache:
When I add a new component to the schematic using the design cache, it still works despite the error message that appears in the log:

Since 'upgrading' to 17.2 S048 I'm seeing a problem where the keyboard focus is not being properly restored when I switch away from PCB Editor and then back again (I generally do this using Alt-Tab). It doesn't happen every time I switch. To get the keyboard working again I need to click in the design window or on one of the menu items and then the keyboard starts working again. Has anyone else seen this?
I am using Allegro 17.2 H049 hot-fix. I have a issue in how to defining the Max_pth_stub and manufacturing stub. I have attached the stack-up details in the image.
The backdrilling starts from bottom layer and must not cut layer is layer 03. Signal flows from top layer to layer 03.
Maximum depth is 7X
I want 6X portion of stack-up to be drilled out (upto Dielectric 02) and a small portion i.e, 7X - 6X = X mils ( only dielectric 01 ) to be left after backdrilling as a stub.
What values of Backdrill Max Pth stub and Manufacturing Stub should I define so that X mils will be left as stub after backdrilling.
I want the output file to be .csv so that I can automatically extract the simulation results via a macro in excel and then process that to feed back to the PWL csv files to accomplish an iterative simulation. But first, I need the .csv file to be exported automatically. I just learned that ORCAD capcture allows the recording of macros. Is that also possible in the PSPICE probe window?

I am using OrCAD PCB Designer 17.2 version. I have to make only the copper pour invisible(hide) and want to see only the routed tracks. If I disable the visibility of Etch for that layer on Color dialog box, both Tracks and Copper shapes are getting hidden. How to solve this issue, because while routing I don't want to see my copper pour.
I tried using the shape transparency(set it to low) in color dialog box, but that will leave the outline visible. I don't want to see any outline as well.
Kindly help me with this issue.

I'm drawing a new schematic and I have a simple problem about font of the value of component , reference and nets name. I want to have for each component the same font size. In each ibrary of components the font is the same.
When I put a new componet in the page, I see always different font. Is there someone that can help me?

I am working on a schematic of a new PCB that I am designing. I am fairly new to PCB Editor, and am using Capture for the schematics. There's a part that I am using (a 200-pin connector) which is a card-edge connector. I haven't been able to find a footprint for it online, so I went ahead and created my own. However, after assigning this footprint to the part, I get the warning message: "Symbol not found in PSMPATH or must be "dbdoctor"ed."
I know this is a duplicate issue, but I have already tried the solutions on the other ones (ran DB Doctor and it finished with no errors, but that didn't fix my problem when generating a netlist). I was wondering if maybe there's something wrong with my footprint. This is my first post on this Blog, and so am not sure what the protocol is.
I am attaching the footprint that I built, along with the connector it should mount on. If any relevant information is missing, or if I can clarify anything else, please let me know.
Note: I am using Cadence 17.2

i have use the command InsetXMLMenu created a menu and it will invoke a route as follow

it seem as the puts content was handed as command,how could solve this problem ?
by the way
when i use command SetOptionBool Journaling TRUE and invoke the menu ,it output the content and command on the same line
how can output them on the different lines ? i have try puts "\n" be the real output content but it doesnt work.
