Hi Cadence Community,
I have a design with two pages:
Page 1 has a component with 3 passive pins, 2 of which are connected to a named net and the remaining pin is unconnected. There are 3 named off-page connectors on page 1. Two of these off-page connectors are connected to the two nets that terminate at the aforementioned connector on page 1 but the remaining off-page reference a net that is not connected to anything on that page.
On page 2, there are 3 off-page connections that match those on page 1. The net not connected on page 1 has two connections on page 2.
Why does the DRC not catch the dangling off-page on page 1? (Yes, I do I have the "Check off-page connector connections" option checked.) Obviously, the presence of the off-page connector on Page 1 implies that I intend to connect that net to something on page 1. The DRC does not notice anything wrong.
This is a simplified example of a more complex multi-page schematic I have where I must resolve many of these dangling off-page connectors that must be terminated to pins present on page 1. Because the DRC is not catching them, I must manage these manually by visual inspection and I might miss one.
Is there a way to get the DRC to catch these? Is this a bug or a deficiency in the DRC algorithm?
Thanks,
Allan
