Working in 16.6 PCB editor and making a symbol/foot print. I used the PIN...then picked the padstack...how many pins and the pitch/spacing. Worked fine....but then I saw I used the wrong pin/pad spacing. I can go back and change them one at a time manually....but there must be a way to pick them all and change the spacing. I cant find it and searching doesn't supply me with an answer.
Whats the best way to change the spacing?

I'm trying to finalize a design and in the course of setting up my output files, I found out that none of my padstacks have the solder paste defined.
Is there a quick and dirty way to do this, can I use the mask to create the paste layer? Then is there a way to exclude through holes, such as mounting holes? (do vias get paste?)

I have a board that will not save due to an unplaced mechanical symbol definition:
"ERROR(SPMHA1-150): Symbol does not fit into the drawing ... reposition the symbol. Error cannot be fixed."
This is not a required symbol and was residual from previous designs. It shows up in the board's database when using the "Place > Manually... > Placement List > Mechanical symbols".
The symbol can be selected when using "Find menu > Find By Name > [name of symbol]" but even with global visibility the part is not visible and cannot be deleted. The symbol can also be placed manually via this menu and subsequently deleted in the editor.
Note: I can remedy by resizing the drawing to be larger.

I want to know there are not other method to follow to determine the direction of current in electronic circuit?

What is the size limitation on a step file mechanical import?

Dear All,
When attempt to generate an Allegro netlist from ORCAD-CIS, I ran into this error saying "Pin number missing from Pin "A7" of Package. I'd checked the part and I could see any missing Pin.
About my ORCAD symbol: It is a 208-pin symbol, broken into 4 parts, and each of them are numbered from 1 to 52. I check the symbol and I saw all 52 pins on all four parts.
Any ideas/hints would be appreciated.

I'm running Allegro Design Entry CIS v16.6-S039 and having problems implementing a master capture.ini file. I downloaded the CIS admin tool and used SetMasterIniPath.exe. I've verified that this added a registry key to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Cadence Design Systems\MasterSettingsFile. Note that this is a different location than in the documentation which specifies HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cadence Design Systems\MasterSettingsFile which I've also manually entered into the registry.
My master capture.ini file currently only has a single entry while I experiment as seen below:

Configuration File=J:\Configuration_Files\CIP-E V5.0 CIS DB.DBC
I expect this entry to replace the existing entry in my capture.ini file located at C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\SPB_Data\cdssetup\OrCAD_Capture\16.6.0 but it does not. Can anyone help me debug what is wrong?

When I compared the result between PowerSI version 13 & 14, there are some abnormal peak on version 14 result.(Like as picture)
What do those peak mean, is there any way to fix it ?
Besides, the data discrepancy(after 6G) between version 13 & 14 is quite large. Which result I could trust?
I am trying to find a way to select nets of selected symbols. I use Find by Name to find all symbols with a TP* reference designator which is simple enough. Now I want to be able to select the nets connected to those symbols so I can assign the NO_TEST property to the net so I do not have ICT and Schematic TPs on the same net.
Seems simple enough, but I can't seem to find the right clicks/steps.

It took me a week to complete all drawings. Now how do i proceed from here to PCB part. I made use of orcad schematic lib to get parts (not Pspice). now i want to start with PCB designing.

I'm using OrCad 16.6 Lite and SQL Server 2012 (11.0.5058) 64 bit.
I have Access 64 bit connecting to SQL just fine with the same credentials (although through a 64 bit DSN).
I have a 32 bit DSN for OrCad (Yes, I did run into that issue).
I am able to go through the CIS Configuration wizard just fine.
But when I go to Tools - Place Database Part I get the SQL prompt (which I expect once)
a) If I type the wrong password it will tell me so
b) If I type the right password then hit Options and click the database dropdown it is able to list the databases [that this user can access]
c) If I hit Cancel it goes to an ODBC DSN selection dialog
d) If I set AutoIt to type the password and hit OK repeatedly the prompt eventually stops coming, but the Part Database window never comes up
I disabled UAC and ran OrCad as Administrator with the same result.
I renamed my Capture.ini and dbc file causing it to recreate them with the same result.
If I point it back to the sample access dbc file it opens the Part Database.
What am I missing?
PS: I'm not certain that I'm posting in the right spot, so don't bash me for that. Moderators feel free to move it to the right spot.
I wrote a very detailed post in the PCB Forum (which may have been the wrong place). It said it needed to be previewed by a moderator, but that forum doesn't list a moderator so I think it's in limbo.
I'm using OrCad 16.6 Lite in a Win 8.1 update 1 64bit VM. I'm attaching to SQL Server 2012 on the host machine. I have Access 64 bit in the VM attaching fine. I have a 32 bit ODBC connection that tests fine (yes, I hit the error message trying to use the 64 bit ODBC first).
OrCad creates the DBC fine, it only prompts for the password once, sees all of the tables and fields, etc. But when I try to place a part it keeps on prompting.
If I try a wrong password it knows that it's wrong.
If I hit the Options button and the database dropdown shows the other databases that the user has access to
I tried running as Administrator with the same results. I deleted the Capture.ini and DBC file to recreate them as Administrator, no change.
I changed the SQL login's password in case symbols were messing it up, no change.
I wrote an Auto-it script to keep entering the password, but that didn't get me anywhere.
I imagine there's something easy that it causing this, but can't seem to find it.
{NEW TO ORCAD]
I can netlist (with the usual renaming warnings) and open the netlist in Orcad PCB. I get a (correct) list of parts when I go to Place/Manually - but there's no Quickview preview and I can't place anything. I can check the parts but then when I hit ok Its just blank. There should be an error message to hint what's wrong - but I don't know where to look (netrev.lst is "clean" with no error/oversight/warning detected). Very, very frustrating!
After netlist i can see a new.brd file but its just waste. I cant place anything. Plz i need to get done with a project within 2 weeks and this thing is just eating me.

Another newbie question from me. I'm trying to make a fidicuial mechanical part and failing at it.
In OrCAD PCB I went to: File -> New -> Mechanical Symbol.
I set the grid to 20 mil and make a 20mil radius circle by: Shape -> Circular: I set the class to etch: top. The shape fill is "static solid".
This gets saved as Fiducial.dra. When I go to my board design and try to place the mechanical symbol (Place -> Manually -> Mechanical Symbol) the fiducial is shown, but nothing shows up when I try to place it.
What am I doing wrong?
I am working on a device which has lot of components...soo we had to draw the schematics in different pages and because of this when I create netist in my schematic, most of the parts are not connected in PCB editor. Is there any way to netlist manually in PCB editor??
I have an engineer that is unable to copy and paste from one design to another in Capture. He is getting the following error:
ERROR(ORCAP-1658): Unable to perform paste. Some objects on the clip board were not valid in this schematic.
I found the Source Link solution concern updating the cache and was able to get it fixed for him (It did take a while to narrow down the parts in error), but he still thinks something is broken because he has never run in to this before. He says that the beauty of Capture is that it is not supposed to care about the symbols and it always would simply cut and paste and add new symbols to the design cache. I am not a Capture guy, so I am wondering if maybe there is some switch that got thrown when we updated to 16.6 that is now making Capture check that the symbols are in sync across designs, or if something fundamentally changed in the last version or two.
Any insight from you Capture gurus?
