Very rarely while in placement edit mode, I will grab a part and hit "r" to rotate in 90 degree increments, but it will jump to a 90 degree rotation and stay there.
I look at the rotation options and see it has been set to Absolute rotation, even though I have been operating in Incremental mode all day. And even more bizarre, the angle is set to some strange number, like 12.63. What the heck?
I could understand if I am accidentally hitting some hotkey to change from Incremental to Absolute rotation. But how could I accidently enter such a specific number as 12.63, or any of the other weird 2 place decimal numbers that have popped up in the past. On top of that, the parts do not even rotate to those odd angles, they jump to 90 degrees.
Has anyone else seen this?
Hi colleagues,
I have an issue with .DBC file creation in Orcad CIS, could somebody help me?
We have a MS Access database connected through the system ODBC MS Access connector (as shown on the pictures). In the database we have an ID column (automaticaly generated unique number) to be able to clearly identify each component. When I want to set this ID parameter as Property type "Part_Number" in CIS (DBC file) there is an error while saving the DBC file (as shown on picture below):
ERROR(ORCIS-6233): The Table Property Type of the field ID in table PARTS is not of type TEXT, STRING or CHARACTER. The Table Property Type of the field assigned as Property Type Part_Number has to be one of the above.
in the database we have also some virtual components so not all columns are always filled, this is the reason why we want to identify component according to the ID number (to be able View Database Part in Orcad).
Thanks.
Regards
Petr
I have completed my artwork, but the silkscreen (as expected) is overlapping with a lot of Via drills. I need to remove that part of the silkscreen.
Is there any tool in PCB Editor that can automatically remove the silkscreen to 'x' distance from the drill?
Any help in this regard is appreciated, because otherwise I will have to manually remove or adjust the silkscreen at each and every place.
P.S.: I am using Allegro PCB Designer v16.6
Thanks
Anurag
I've inherited a PCB design that's got some issues. The latest strangeness I've found is that it looks like only two via's have the correct anti-pad size (pic attached. Red circle shows correct anti-pad via's). All the via's are set to the correct size, but only two came out that way. The rest are oversized by a fixed amount (about 14 mils).
Still new to PCB 16.6, but I think I've searched all possible places that would change the anti-pad sizing, but cannot find the reason.
What did I miss?
Thanks.
Tom
Hi everybody:)
Im a newbie use Allegro PCB Librarian XL for draw a schematic.
Im looking for a fast way to find a pin number of IC, but I cant find a solutions on GG :D
I tried to use Global Find for looking but I only find a Ref def of IC (ex: U3001 with LOCATION keyword), but i dont known a way to find a pin number of U3001 (ex: pin A13 of U3001)
Please help me to find a way to solve this problem.
Thanks.
We have a number of design rules to implement with clearances from the Board outline to holes etc. These clearances are different to general lines etc.
Where, in the Constraints Manager, are Board Outline clearances entered?
Trying to generate IPC 356 A output keeps throwing errors and failing when we use D2PAK devices and the designs are in 'mm'.
The D2PAK device has a 10.5mm pad and this causes an error saying the integer value is too large '10500'.
Does anyone have a solution for the error? This error does not appear when the designs are being produced in imperial (mils), only when in metric (mm).
Any solutions please!
Hello. I have 'Route Keepout (filled rectangular)' on TOP layer of many component footprint. And when the GND shape on top layer is filled (Smooth), the clearance between the GND shape and the Route Keepout rectangular is zero. I would like to change it to have some space between them. But I cannot find the setup for this clearance. Could you please let me know? Thank you.
I need to extract an image of the board shape from Allegro, retaining size information, then import into Visio. Can anyone provide information on how this can be done?
Hello,
I wonder if there is a way to have many part number/Value for just one part reference in ORCAD CIS or if I must instance many part references and superimpose them during layout.
someone have some idea?
In User Preferences all areas, at everyone tabs - is empty. Has a only text: selected category has no contents at this level. This text has being at anyone tab.
Hi,
I have created design with backdrills and right now I have an issue with exporting soldermask do gerber files.
For via solder opening there is a layer: VIA CLASS/SOLDERMASK_TOP and VIA CLASS/SOLDERMASK_BOTTOM
And that works perfectly but when backdrills are created the solder mask opening is set in layer named BACKDRILL_SOLDERMASK.
But this layer I can be see only in "PAD Editor" in "Mask Layers" tab.
There I can see SOLDERMASK_TOP: none SOLDERMASK_BOTTOM: none and in BACKDRILL_SOLDERMASK: Circle 0.55
And I have no idea how to export it to GERBER files because there is no such layer in Artwork to be selected.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Has anyone run into this issue before?
When I export IDF in OrCad PCB Designer Professional and import it into SolidWorks 2015, a couple of the components show up in the wrong location. The odd thing is, that when the affected components are on the top layer, they show up in the correct location. However, when they are mirrored and placed on the bottom layer, their location is incorrect in the IDF.
Is there a way to get a report that contains pins that have thermals and what layers they are connected to?
Hi,
I would like created a BindKeys advanced for my virtuoso environnement:
hiSetBindKeys ( "Layout" list (
; comment: I press "F1" one time I create a path with the value_1, I press "F1" two time I create a path with the value_2, and I press three time "F1", I create a path with a the value_3
list ("<Key>F1" "pteSetSelectable("m1" "drawing" "Layer") pteSetVisible("m1" "drawing" "Layer") leHiCreatePath() pathWidth <value_1> "
"pteSetSelectable("m1" "drawing" "Layer") pteSetVisible("m1" "drawing" "Layer") leHiCreatePath() pathWidth <value_2> "
"pteSetSelectable("m1" "drawing" "Layer") pteSetVisible("m1" "drawing" "Layer") leHiCreatePath() pathWidth <value_3> " ) ;
)) ;; hiSetBindKeys
Thanks for your help

Is there any way to restore deleted silkscreen lines and shapes without updating the entire component symbol? I am using Allegro 17.2.
When editing symbol/part in orcad capture, selection filter is disabled.
I wonder how can I refine my selection so it not for example select outline instead of line or vice versa.
I found it very annoying as I edit parts and orcad select wrong object
Hello,
I would like to rotate a symbol from my PCB design but the precision is too low for my requirements. Therefore I would like to know where I could set the angle precision when rotating a symbol.
Thanks in advance!!

Javiwolf
Installed 17.2 and I cannot set up a .DBC file. I get the following error :
ODBC Error Code: -1 Description: The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application
Any suggestions appreciated.
16.6 is running well on the same PC.
