OrCAD Collaboration with Solidworks.
I saw the video for ECAD-MCAD Integration with SOLIDWORKS. I tried to use Cadence_Demo.brd as an example to make the setup but failed. Is there a guide to make the setup to verify the board dimensions as see in the video? Thanks.

Library Builder 17.2 import a pad created in the pad editor
I need to replace a rectangular pad created in LB with a chamfered rectangular pad created in the pad editor to indicate pin 1.
Is there a way to do this? Or is there a way to do this directly in LB?

How to route 134-VFBGA 0.6mm 10x11.5mm LPDDR2 Package?
Specifically, Micron MT42L64M32D2HE-18 IT:D, but seems to apply to most any other LPDDR2 part. They come in bigger, easier PoP packages, but we've been urged away from that package.
I am struggling at figuring out how to breakout this part. My standard vias are 17C8D from L1-L8, but these are too large to fit between pads. My microvias are 10C5D form L1-L2, but don't help me near enough as they only go down to 1 routing layer. A second microvia from L2-L3 would be cool, but L3 is not a routing layer. A buried via from L2-L7 with the same specs as my microvia might be helpful, but my CM's PCB vendor says the buried vias need to be the size of my standard via. These won't fit in between the pads, as stated before, or the microvias on L2. Trying to do this by routing on the top layer to vias outside the package isn't ideal for LPDDR2 impedances. Maybe routing some of those out on L2 to standard vias might be doable, but it feels like it's getting messy, as well as that would make 3 vias per net and I've read it's better to be at 2 for LPDDR2 (I try to minimize the vias on nets like this anway). Lastly, if I microvia L1-L2 the ground pins, they get to the L2 ground plane, which is pretty much my reference plane, but they don't stitch to other ground layers/pours unless I route them out too.
I hope I'm making sense here. Clearly this can be done, so I think I'm just missing some technique.
TL;DR, Does anyone have any tricks/tips/suggestions on breaking out a 0.65mm package for LPDDR2?

dynamic shape and spacing
i have a difficult time with figuring out how to mange this spacing issue.
I would like to place a dynamic shape between two clines with a 15um gap.
i set the spacing as 5um and the minimum apeture of gap width on the dynamic shape parameter as 5um.
but i can not get a dynamic shape between the two clines as shown below.
if i set the gap not as 15.0um but as 15.05um, i can get a dynamic shape between the two clines.
is this a roundup issue or a unit issue?
is there a way to place a dynamic shape with a 15.00um gap?

17.4 tool_PC speed and tool crash
Any of you have experienced the PC becoming slow after installing 17.4 and the tool capture/pcb crashing frequently. One of my colleague is having this issue. Any quick remedies?

BGA Local Fiducials
Hi
I was wondering at what point does it become necessary to add local fiducials to the BGA packages.
Would a 0.8mm pitch package be placed correctly by machine if i do not use local fiducials or what if i go for 0.65/0.5mm pitch?
Would small packages with 24/48 pins don't require them as much as 324 pin packages?

Export CIS .dbc file in binary format?
I am trying to import our CIS library into Altium. Their import wizard requires the .dbc file to be in binary format. Ours is XML.
How do I export a .DBC file in binary format? There's no option when using the Save As feature through Capture.

Enabling High-Speed Option settings?
I'm working on a layout concurrently with a remote designer - both using high-speed/miniaturization licenses. I keep seeing prop delay DRC's in the section he's working in, but he says there are none and I must not have the high-speed option enabled. I always use the high-speed license, and have the electrical constraint modes all checked 'On', so not sure why we're seeing different things. Any clues?

Hotfix SPB17.20.062 - Text file listing changes?
I installed the latest hotfix 17.20.062 and cannot find the text file listing changes.
The "what's new" within Allegro does not show the latest hotfix.

Oblong Pads Placed on Bottom( using Allegro 17.2) show short circuit on the PowerDC tool.
Hi,
I have no idea how this happens. Oblong pads placed on the bottom side do not show any errors on Allegro, but while using the PowerDC tool for the DC analysis, the tool shows the short circuit on the bottom layer between the pads.
For example, lets assume i have a capacitor footprint which uses oblong pads. These oblong pads are connected to one another when imported on to the PowerDC(Cadence Sigrity 2018) tool and show up as short circuit.
Has anyone else encountered same issue ? Any help would be appreciated.

Change Orcad Capture Symbol Font for Pin Name and Pin Number
I would like to increase the font size on all of the pin numbers and pin names in all my schematic symbols in a particular library. Does anyone know how to do this?

Allegro 17.2 hotfix 062- "Form not found"
Hi Guys,
Since the last hotfix 062 and also in my 17.4 install, my shortcut to load my filmview doesn't work anymore I get the message "Form not found" in the command window...
If I click on the view and select the view I want... it works, what changed ??.
In my local ENV I have these commands -
funckey 1 FORM vf_vis colorview_list File: TOP
funckey 2 FORM vf_vis colorview_list File: BOT
Can someone help me... it's annoying to move the mouse all the way upto the view to get it to work !!.

Change NC Drill Defaults
Is there a way to change the default NC Parameters? Specifically, I'd like to have the "Enhanced Excellion Format" and "Auto tool select" enabled by default, rather than having to choose them every time, or remember to load my custom nc_param.txt file.

Is there any way to change the system generated net name in orcad automatically
Hi,
I'm new to the orcad i saw when i draw a wire between two pins it automatically assigns the net name like NXXXXXXX. But i want the net name <Part1 refdes and pin number>_<Part2 refdes and pin number> instead of NXXXXXX format.
please somebody help!!.

172. 062 hotfix - using wildcard in library search not working
While in footprint edit mode, I cannot search for footprints using wildcards such as cap*.dra, *0402*.dra, etc.
It does not work in edit board mode either.
I'm running Windows 10 pro.
Wildcards still work in Allegro version 16.6.
I have no clue what is going on. Looking for suggestions to fix.

Where is the Package Properties Spreadsheet
Hello , I am very new to using Capture for anything but basic college simulations 20 years ago, using the Analog and Capsym libraries.
My employer recently decided to try Orcad Capture for a year to see if it is worth the $$. We took the $3k Orcad training and the $3k Layout training and I am almost as lost as when we started. Using the Training material, I cannot go back through and reproduce what is outlined in the course. In this case, creating a simple homogeneous part package for a Vishay SFH6916 Quad Optocoupler . Creating the single part is simple, and when the tutorial says , Choose View-Package command to see all the sections in the package, this works, because I see a 2x2 grid of the identical parts in the package with parts 2, 3 and 4 having no pin numbers.
The tutorial then says: select Edit -> Properties from the menu to display a spreadsheet of all the pins in the package. There is no choice for Edit Properties when in View -> Package. I tried closing everything, then just opening the library and then editing the Part, thinking that I would then be in Part Editor, but with no success.
I tried selecting section 2 of the part, but I wasn't given an option to edit,
This shouldn't be so difficult, I am working from a Capture Textbook for version 17.2 and I have 17.2 installed. Why are the two not coordinated. A more relevant question is, how can I look at the Package Properties Spreadsheet so I can edit the pin numbers?
