I don't know how to pass my schematic layout to PCB in OrCAD 17.4. Someone could help me?
Schematic to PCB with Orcad 17.4
Plane Outline window off screen
When I open the Plane Outline window it appears mostly off screen. Since I can't get to the title bar I'm unable to move it.
How do I fix this?
Thanks in advance,

Colorview issues in Allegro
I have 2 issues with "colorview" I can't seem to figure out.
1. I have several views set up as "toggle" views. These will work once and then I have to select another view, then go back to the one I want to toggle. I have recreated these several times but they all behave the same way. I can go to "scripts" and run them and they will toggle correctly without running other colorviews. These are colorviews I have used for years. Is there a switch or setting that controls the colorview toggle?
2. There are times I lose the colorview list in visibility all together. The only way I can get it back is the reopen Allegro. Again, is there a switch or setting that causes/prevents this from happening? Is there a way to reload this list into the v isibility pane?
Is there a way to fix these problems without writing a skill program to run them?
Thanks!

Move vertex issue
I can't get "move vertex" to work. I can delete and add vertex but not move. I use this mostly in editing lines but etch or lines won't work. I tried this in both etch mode and general mode.
Any suggestions?
RatsNest Control in Allegro how to make it more usable ?
Hi all.
In Allegro/Orcad does anyone know if some skill code exists that would make enabling/disabling ratsnest guides/lines more dynamic ?
In the Specctra route editor I find it far easier to use to enable disable nets than in Allegro.
For example in Specctra you can simply click a pin or window select a component and the rats show up. If you window select a component or pin again that is showing the ratsnest then the ratsnest turns off.
This works great and has been that way for years in Specctra.
Over on the Allegro side of things you have to do two operations basically enable, disable. For example "Show Rats Net" & "Blank Rats Nets"
The dual operation is really tiresome, too many clicks IMHO.
Ideally what I am after is basically a toggle for the ratsnest. Click the pin and the rat appears, click the pin again and it disappears.
It is doable with hot keys but I have too many already assigned
Thanks.
Import footprint PCB
How can I import a footprint into OrCAD PCB Designer Professional?.
I download the file from any provider and run the .bat file with the following problem appearing: Cannot open script file; No match found for 'footprint.scr' in the search path.
Problem with materials list in cross-section editor
Hello,
I recently switched to OrCAD 17.4 from 17.2 and I have a problem.
In 17.2 I added a custom material in materials.dat file and it appeared in cross-section editor without any problems.
In 17.4-2019 adding the material in this file has no effect. It doesn't appear in the list after reset.
Also the list of materials contains many materials which are not present in the materials.dat file. However I've found them in a file called material.cmx.
Is this a bug or is there a different way to add custom materials to the list now?
ua741 integrator in negative domain
This an integrator circuit of the opamp UA741 which I`m trying to get the results of but when i look at the results they are far more off than what i was expecting them to be . The results from the integrator is just acting in the negative domain of the opamp which im not understanding. Also, at the output i have kept a diode with a voltage of 1v which is supposed to be working as a piece wise function of the {Vs vin>0; 1 vin<0}. but the output at the end is just 1v constant. Please let me know what the fault is? I have attached the schematic in this post . Also the results.
Editting a DFF .csv file issue
I'm trying to edit a Design True DFM .csv file and by doing so break the .csv into multiple files for review and adoption in my team at Intel. What I want to do (and did) was to "shorten" the default DFF csv file into smaller segments. After doing so paying careful attention to the headers and beginning an end of the different sections of the csv file I could load it into a allegro .brd file but no new drc's for DFM showed up. I looked at the log file no apparent issue. I used excel to edit the .csv and save it as a .csv file before reading it into a board file. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is a Allegro 17.2 database 17.2-2016 S062 [11/25/2019] Windows SPB 64-bit Edition
Allegro 17.2 env file
Can I get the path to the Allegro setup files like we can from Capture?
How to delete a section of an heterogeneus part in Orcad 16.6.
First of all I would like to do a brieve introducion:
- I have just imported a project from older Cadence version to 16.6 version. I have the layout and the schematics and now I'm synchonising them with netlist generation.
- I have translated the old layout library files to the new format .dra. This update has been done successfully.
- But the last error that console has launched to me when generating netlist is this:
"All physical pins are common in section 4 of physical part 'AD5262_1_TSSOP16_R25W_R22L_R025'. Each section must have at least one non-common pin.
Open the part in Part Developer and ensure that you have at least one non-common pin for each section of a physical part are common in section 4 of physical part 'AD5262_1_TSSOP16_R25W_R22L_R025'. Each section must have at least one non-common pin.
Open the part in Part Developer and ensure that you have at least one non-common pin for each section of a physical part"
The thing is that the symbol of this device was created as a multipart symbol. When I edit the part it appears as 4 sections symbol, so A, B, C and D parts. But when I open D part is an empty white sheet, it has no elements, neither pins, etc.. is an empty element that remains unusefull. It has been a traslation mistake. This D part is not used at schematics. So I tried to delete D part. How?
- First I tried to do it following the console error msg about "part developer". But "Part Developer" is launched from library explorr manager an extern tool that only open .cpm files. But my project has not any of this kind of file. So I discard this solution.
- Second I tried to do it by editing the part by clicking over library project element/edit part/options/package properties and change to 3 parts. They launch the msg that I can delete the part y selecting the part in package view and clicking "delete". But I don' t know where is this "package view".
My questions:
1.- How can I access the "package view" tool? where can I find the package view? I was browsing documents in Cadence help tool but I don't fnd clear information about how to open it. Most document about this and about Part developer are refered to 16.3 version and they have not the same interface neither menus.
2.- If you know an other easy way to delete a section of an heterogeneus part I will be thankfull for being shared with me.
How to set shortcut key to cycle through predefined trace width settings
I'd like to assign a shortcut key to select a trace width from a predefined list while routing.
For example, I'd like to select between 0.082mm, 0.127mm, and 0.254mm.
Any suggestions on how to do this, or where to find more information on how to do it would be greatly appreciated!

Text line is outside of the extents
Can anybody explain what does it means this msg error?
When I update the PCB this happens:
" Netrev error detected. ERROR(SPMHDB-195): Error processing 'U8': Text line is outside of the extents.."
Is it about footprint drawing (text)? or is it about text inside some file, other text issues, etc?
Thanks in advance.
Constraints Manager, not sure how to define this constraint
Hi all,
I"m still coming to grips with the Constrains Manager and I've run into a constraints definition problem I cant wrap my head around.
I have a design that has a pair of nets (NetA and NetB) that between them use the Default Constraint set, but from them to the rest of the world requires 1500V creepage values.
I have defined a Spacing Constraints set, SCS_1500V which contains NetA and NetB, with creepage values suitable for 1500V. The problem is, that the SCS_1500V is also applied between NetA and NetB producing a few hundred DRCs.
My question is, how do i define constraints that prevent the SCS_1500V rules applying between NetA and NetB, but continue to have the SCS_1500V between them and the rest of the world?
Basic PCB Workflow in OrCad 17.4
I'm new to OrCad but not new to PCB design/capture/layout. The quick start tutorials are a great option but they seem not to have been updated for version 17.4. Specifically, the process of transitioning from capture to PCB editing has changed. I found this third-party guide to what has changed, but surely Cadence has documents for its newest version somewhere? If I've overlooked them, please point me in the right direction.
It would also be great to be able to filter forum posts according to the version they relate to; it's pretty frustrating to do a search and find that most of the results that get returned are from 2011, and there is no way to sort by both date *and* relevance.
In the meantime, I have looked through the external resources pointed to by other recent posts but I'm afraid I haven't found anything of even remotely reasonable quality. I don't have the time or the patience for 17 pages of "here is how the mouse works", nor for "this is what this dialog box does". Suggestions are welcome for quick-start guides that are 1) for 17.4 and 2) explain how to accomplish major tasks, not what the UI does.
Best regards,

differential pair membership
hello
i have set up many differential pairs in one design file.
i want the differential pair memership information to get copied to another design file.
i have tried to export constraints from the constraint manager but it did not work.
is there a way to copy the differential pair memership information from one file to another?
Create NetList with TCL with DiallogControl .XML file
Morning everyone,
I have an issue that over my understanding.
1. First, I go to Toos/Create Netlist, and input my customization value (in Other/Part Value, and Other/PCB Footprint properties).
2. Press OK (and i received and TCL command like this: Menu "Tools::Create Netlist" | DialogBox "OK" "C:/Users/RkNG/AppData/Local/Temp/CAPTURELOG/Sat_Mar_28_19_22_07_2020/Other_6.xml")
3. The Netlist i received now is perfect as my setting in step 1.
Now, I want to create another Netlist with the same format, but I reused the "command above" (step 2). I also receive an Netlist with "default setting" not the same as my setting in Step 1 (although my setting is shown exactly the .xml above. "..../Other_6.xml".
So my question is, how to set/change the default value for "Part Value and PCB Footprint" in Tools/Create Netlist.
Please enlighten my.
Thank you very much for your help.
Description and Manufacturer not getting populated in BOM
Hi,
I have this issue when I generate the BOM. I've filled out all the properties for my parts in the part manager. I then go to Reports > CIS Bill of Materials > Standard and then generate the BOM.
On the BOM, all the fields are correct with what I put in part manager (Value, PCB footprint, etc.), except for Description and Manufacturer. Description and Manufacturer are left blank for every row. What could be causing this? I know for a fact that these properties are not blank in the design.
Thanks
Help with my project
I am a novice in the design of printed circuits and I need help when making certain decisions regarding the size of the pads or the size of the tracks on my circuit. I know that these decisions are a function of the voltage and current of my circuit, but I do not know what specifications to choose. Or if you could provide me with a free book or pdf that can help me
Issue during netlisting-Error(ORNET-1193)
Hi, I am struggling to get a netlist generated. I had to update a schematic that was originally done in an older version. This meant updating issues with footprint names such as removing dashes, dots etc. Got this done, Made sure the footprints could be found but I keep getting the error in the title and the commands below are generated. It says that the details for the errors can be found in the netlist.log files but this is empty when I go check there.
Anyone have any ideas?
I am on the following software versions:
17.2 S062
Thanks
