I am working on a design that requires plated counter sunk holes in it.  The holes I want counter sunk show in the drill legend, how do I incorporate that information into the drill file so the board house that makes my PCB knows they are counter sunk holes?

Size of the Junction Dot Size

Folks,

After importing a DxDesigner schematic database into OrCAD Capture, the junction dot size was way too small, even after boosting it's size to "very large" in the Misc tab of the Options pop-down menu.  It does increase, but not enough an I do not want to mess around with the schematic database as it is quite complicated and time is short for delivery.

Does anybody have a method for increasing the junction dot size to an arbitrarily large value from the command line or other means?  I was told of the following script, but it did not seem to work or do anything when entered:

auto allundot
set dots_filled
set body_dot_radius 20
set logic_dot_radius 13
set color_dot skyblue
auto dot
write

I have version SPB 17.40.003

Invisible Power Pins on Parts B, C., . . . in Multiple Package Parts

I have created a schematic symbol in Capture 16.6 for an op-amp package that has an exposed die pad (EP).  I would like to have the V+, V-, and EP appear on package A only, and not package B.  When I place package A, everything looks as it should - power pins present with short lines and numbers.  However, when I place package B, I can see the pin lines with no pin numbers.  I would like to have NO pin lines showing.  What is the trick to make this happen?

Thanks in advance.

DRC Error Marks

Hi all,
I am proceeding a schematic design of my project.

I found a net didn' t connet to the signal port on hierarchy block, i.e., it just connected on the  frame of the  hierarchy block.

But the DRC didn't point out and show any error marks.

Please give me some advice on this situation.

Thanks!

Update offpage connectors in design and cache.

I am using Capture 17.4

I imported a design from PADS (horrible tool).  After replacing all of the symbols in the libraries I got a workable design.

I tried to perform the InterSheet reference function.   I do see the correct page numbers in the report file, so I know it worked.  However, the page number is not displayed.

I am not able to find anything that allows me to hide/show the off page value.  I tried replacing the parts in the cache.  that did not help.

I replaced a few parts by hand, that works.  There are 100's of offsheet connectors on this design.

How can I replace them without doing it one at a time?

I tried loading the CoolEditBox, but that is not working at all.

Any help will be greatly appriciated.

Bus routing in Allegro PCB Designer

Hello, i am a student studying allegro pcb designer.

I have trouble in routing a bus. I think all of channels in a "bus" must have same( or very similar) characteristics so that they must be routed in a same topology (very close paths).

I just realized the way how to make a bus and add channels in the bus. However, i can't route them together simultaneously.

I want to know the exact meaning of "bus" and how to route a bus simultaneously.

Thank you for reading a long boring question, and i am waiting for a valuable answer.

I am using the latest version of OrCAD PCB Professional 17.4 S004. I have added a few teardrops in the design. when I try to select them they aren't getting selected I tried various application modes, enabled all options on find filter. Yet unable to select them. I also want to know on which class and subclass do these fall.

I have to push the data of teardrops to the manufacturer through artwork how do I do that

How to use POWERDC .SUBCKT in PSPICE simulation

Hello,

I have exracted a resistance network that models one trace on my PCB with PowerDC.

The result is a .ckt file that contains a spice subcircuit with 12 ports.

How can I use this subcircuit in a schematic simulation? I cannot find any documentation...

Thanks a lot

How To Change Library Path In OrCAD Capture 17.4

Hello,

I downloaded the symbol and footprint of a part from Ultra Librarian to a local folder. After I put the part in the schematic there is a warning as below.

WARNING(ORCAP-2434): Footprint 'CP_32_15' specified in PCB Footprint for instance 'U1' is missing. Ensure 'CP_32_15' is in the library path.

It looks that the OrCad Capture tried to find the footprint from somewhere else but not where the OLB file is located. Does anybody know what is the default folder for the footprint libraries? May I add my own folder to it?

Thanks.

Hi All,

I have a General Spice compatible BBS model of a trace on a PCB.

I used model editor to create a symbol to be used in schematic.

When I start simulation I get error for components in the subcircuit like this one:

Hi,

I need some help with using Resistor DIP 4 A-D part from Discrete library. I have to use the package with the 4 resistors but when I create a netlist it creates 4 separate components (4 packages of 4 resistors each). I'd like to have one package with 4 resistors RA, RB, RC and RD so I can place it on the PCB. Some help with be much appreciated.

Thanks

Placing components in OrCAD CIS 17.2 takes longer time when accessed from server

I am using Capture CIS 17.2 and I am facing the below issue. When I place a component from the database it takes a longer time than usual sometimes more than a minute. The database is in the server machine.

Is it an issue with the software or with my system. The network connection seems to be fine.

How to enlarge the probe cursor data window

I'm using Orcad Capture Lite and once a circuit is simulated and the Graphical simulation window opens I can turn on the Cursors, get the cross-hair cursors and the X Axis and Y Axis values appear in a separate window below the main graphical window. However these data values are very small even on good size monitor. In the older version of PSpice I used to use the graphical data values appeared as a movable box on the graphical window and were very clear to see. Can the data value window be enlarged?

Unable to display any information on popped up window

As it shows, it always shows nothing in the popped up window when run the command in the Display Menu, like Display->measure, Display->elements. I've tried to reinstall the software and change another version, but still not work out.

BTW, it is Cadence Free Viewer 17.4 installed in Win10 64-bit system. Could anyone have ideas about this problem?

Adding custom pads/holes to the schematic

$

using 17.2...

I make a pad on the padstack editor, then I want this pad on my schematic, so I can connect it to my circuits before moving to the pcb editor.

My colleague and I have found a way to add the pads on the pcb editor, but it would be good to have the rats nest show where they should be connected.

Probably a stupid question but we just cant seem to find any libraries with pads or holes or anything you could then add your own pads to or replace with your own pads in the PCB editor?

Thanks in advance!

OrCAD 17.4 tab size for open schematic pages

In OrCAD 17.4, when a bunch of schematic pages are open, is there a setting to get rid of the dropdown menu and compress the tab size so all of the tabs are shown for open schematic pages? Having to use the dropdown menu is annoying and slows me down.
