Reg: Flash Symbol & Gerber output

Hi
I need your help to solve below issue

Current I am doing very old board revision activity , which used negative artwork for the plane & flash symbols for PTH.

1) I have not worked with negative plane artwork before , connection shown in is a very thin “+” sign on plane as shown in image , I really doubt
    how exactly its connected to [ plane fully or only + connection ] . This pin carries 15A current !, I suggested to change the plane to positive artwork , due some standards
    they didn't allowed me to change . Please let me how can I increase the connection width ? I exported libraries  & checked but some issue with flash symbol .
2) While generating Gerber files its throwing below error & unable to process

    I want to get all graphical vector data from schmatic pages, do you have any simple sample to extract vector data(dbopolygon or dbopolyline...) from schmatic's page.

    or let's me know some guideline,also it's ok!

Convert Schematic from PADS Logic to ORCAD

We have a hardware design with the schematic created in PADS Logic, but wanted to switch to ORCAD without having to re-enter the whole schematic.  Is there an automated way to make that conversion or otherwise import a PADS Logic file into ORCAD?

Foot Print Updates

When I do a an update symbol pad stacks I get disconnects on the symbol pins and the nets. Any vias on the net then become power or ground and have to be deleted. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? Any way automate the re-connect process?

Allegro / Orcad PCB Title Blocks & Sheets

Hi guys perhaps you can help with this one.

I have located some title block .dra files in the PCB Symbols folder that I am working on at the moment. What I would like to be able to do is have "Text attributes" for the various entities within the title block such as a date field that auto updates to todays date.

In other PCB tools that I have used it is possible to have attributes for any text item you might want to change from one central menu. This is really handy because once you have stuff like ECO Number, Product number, Date etc defined in the title block you only have to go to one menu to update all those fields.

Basically what I am after is the same as what I can do in capture with title blocks but over on the PCB side of things.

One other thing is it possible to "fix" text items so they are fixed in place and cant be moved.

Open two boards in one drawing to compare fit?

Hi all, 

I'm designing a board that will fit onto another board through .100 headers and plated holes. Is there a way I can import my board outline so I can overlay them to see if they are matching up as I expect?

I guess one way to do it would be to make a component with the dimensions of my board and import it and check that way. Is that the standard solution?

Generating a BOM

Has anyone generated a BOM from OrCAD like this?  I use version 16.5 here.  I get close with variant report but I am not there yet.  Any suggestions would be very welcome.

multiple copies of the same design in a single file.brd

Hello.

I want to do mutliple copies of the same design in a single file .brd.
When I use the command "copy", the copy of the shape of my design is floating (in my original design, this shape is dynamic).

How do I copy the exact design?

Set path to .brd file?

 I'm using SPB 16.5 (soon 16.6) Design Entry HDL and Allegro PCB Design in Linux.  When I load projmgr and load the design then click Design Entry the schematic comes up fine.  When I click Layout the PCB Editor comes up blank.  I need to go to recent designs and choose the board I'm working on.  Is there a path variable or something to set so it will automatically come up with the correct board?

 Also, I have quit and reload PCB Design every time to be able to get the full screen option.  On the first load the top line of the window is off the screen and inaccessible.  I just consider that a bug.

Add positioning hole to symbol - Allegro/PCB Editor

Hi all,

I'm creating a footprint for a Camera Link connector (26 pin 3M MDR connector); I need to add some mounting and positioning holes. Should I define them as 'pins' and leave them as unplated drill holes? I'm sure there's a better way.

IBIS model simulation

I am designing a Data acquisition system with a Texas instruments ADC, Inamps and a ST micro electronics micro controller. I am getting spice models for my inamps, differential amplifiers etc. so that I could do SPICE simulation.

I wish to see the output of my ADC if I am providing an input signal with my simulated amplifiers and filters. I am getting an IBIS model of the ADC. Is there any tool software so that, I can import these spice models and connect with this IBIS model similar to what we do in spice softwares and get an an output, so that I could do some FFT, transient analysis etc.?

I am new to these IBIS models. I am not sure what it is used for. When I read some introductory papers, I understood it is also a behavior model. Could we use it in the same way as SPICE transistor based models and get the same kind of results using Virtuso spectre or any other cadence product?

Dynamic shape with solid fill does not plot solid black

We produce photomasks by changing the colors of the desired features to black and using the Plot command. This works well for most of the etch but not for dynamic shapes with solid fills, which print gray instead of black. Connect lines and cross-hatched fills print black but a solid fill does not. The gray is very dark and looks like black in Plot Preview on the screen but emerges distinctly gray from a laserprinter. The darkness varies between printers. Printing to pdf with Distiller gives a shape that looks black on screen but again becomes gray from a printer.

Can anybody suggest how to make the fill genuinely black, please? I am using OrCAD 16.3 on Windows XP.

How to make SMT pad with multiple drills inside

I am creating footprint for some chip, which has exposed pad in the center which must be connected to ground most of the time.

I want to have many vias in that pad.

I do create a 128x128 mil pad, with multiple vias enabled, however; those vias never appear there! Neither they can be observed in 3D view in component layout, nor they can be seen when used in the PCB layout which uses that footprint.

 

I am attaching two screenshots, one with Parameters tab for Padstack of center pad, another is Layers tab. All parameters seem to be set well, and the pad is being previewd as the one I want it to be in padstack editor, but thats not the way how it is instanitated in Package editor... no vias or bottom layer can be seen there.

Any ideas what else could be missing?

Orcad Layout 16.2: very slow when refreshing the screen with windows 7

Hello.

I use Orcad Layout 16.2 with Windows 7 64 bits PRO,  it's very slow when refreshing the screen, althought with the same PC I use PCB Editor 16.6 without problems.

Slotted padstack with Vias

Hello - I have to create a footprint for this part and as you can see it has a slotted padstack with vias.  I've never done one like this before and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.  Also, when I create my drill drawing and drill legend what must I do differently to appropriately identify the slotted hole?  thanks in advance for any help.

MySQL with Orcad CIS Table Property type for Part Number

Hi

I am new to setting up a MySQL parts data base however I have managed to use MySql Community version to create a small database jus one table and 2 or 3 row. All i was trying to do is create a table and connect to the databse from Orcad CIS. It went fine i was able to do all of these but when I went to configure CIS I keep getting the ERROR #8023

ERROR #8023 The Table Propoerty Type of field Part Number in table main parts is not TEXT, STRING or CHARACTER

I have this property set as CHARACTER, i have also tried to set it to TEXT and then to Varablecharacter but every time i keep getting the ERROR #8023.

Can some one please help me.
