Just moved from a windows XP OS machine to a windows 7 OS machine.
Using Allegro 16.5 and Allegro 16.6
The images I get from Capture Canvas Image, are blank.
I have run the tools as a user and as an admin, not difference.
Have tried saving in all 3 formats, jpg, tiff and dib.
Any suggestions?
Note: Worked very nicely on tthe XP box.
Is it possible to configure the CIS Database to use Views rather then Tables in a MySQL Database?
We are exporting data from our PLM database into a MySQL database, however it's not possible to export just the data required for the CIS database, therefore we have filtered the data and have created Views in the MySQL Database which contians the part data required for CIS
Hi experts,
Is there a way to look for clines where the gap/distance between the edge of the cline to edge of the anti-pad is less than the width of the cline? (see attached pic)
Then if found, place a DRC marker between the cline and the anti-pad?
If there is a way, how do you go about it?
Note:
The Highlight_SOV in Allegro Editor is not useful as it reports not only clines that are next to antipad but also all of the vias of the cline itself. The result is 1000+ drc error.

The anti-pad is on the GND plane - microstrip layer construction

I am viewing a BRD file in Allegro Free Physical Viewer 16.5. I want to query the size of the drill on the pins of a press-fit component. I've tried Display->Element from the menu, which will let me retrieve information about the "pin" and give me the padstack name, but I can't find any way to retrieve the drill size. Is there a way to do it?

In Allegro CIS, I select Tools --> Bill of Materials... Then when the BIll of Materials window appears I click "OK".
It fails and the session log only contains this:

I'm currently work as OrCAD Schematic Capture and build Schematic Symbol at work. I don't know anything about the OrCAD/Allegro PCB layout and would like to learn how to do it. I have access to the Allegro software at work to play with. But my company don't want to send me to school or training so I would like to learn my self here.
Let say I have a complete Schematic with pass all the DRC check and have the BOM and Netlist. From here, how do I convert/import the Netlist to Allegro software?
- What is the first step to lean about this?
- Is there any book, website, tutourial, guide that teach step by step?

Setup --> Cross Section
The "Layout Cross Section" window allows "Autosolve Mode" to calculate the trace characteristic impedance given all the parameter values ( thickness, dielectric constant, conductivity etc).
May I know the correct value to put for "Dielectic Constant" of a Conductor Copper layer?
Should this value be infinity?
Problem is that when I put a very high value, the impedance goes down to almost zero (which isnt true in practice)

I am going to prepare Manufacturing information of my board. I have generated Art & Drill files. However, I see extra information in some PCB layouts of other manufacturers. For exmple, they have some layers that show board stack-up or other information. Below picture from a famous manufacturer shows these information. How can I generate such information?! Is there an automated procedure for them or I should define some subclass in Manufacturing/"Drawing Format" class and insert these information - stack up, sheet template as seen in below picture,..- there? How should I send stack-up to PCB manufacturer then? Is this layer a standard one which all refer to it or I should write my stack-up info in a text file and send to them?

I am wondering if there is a way to align Texts or any objects other than symbols in Allegro PCB 16.6. I know how to align Symbols using Placementedit. However, it doesn't work for texts?! In below picture I want to align text horizontally.

I have a schematic (OrCAD Capture CIS 16.5) which includes a hierarchical block and an array of these blocks.
If "Main PCB" is the root, I highlight a part on one of the "Main PCB" pages and click on "Edit Properties", I get two lines with two different reference designators.The second line, in yellow, has the correct reference designator. Sometimes the first line's reference designator does not exist in the design or exists on another page and is a different value.
If I make the hierarchical block array page the root, highlight the same part on the same "Main PCB" page, and click on "Edit Properties", I get one line with the reference designator that was on the first line, above. The schematic also shows this reference designator.
Anybody have any idea what I did wrong and how to fix it?
Hello guys I have tried to simulte all MOCs that are availibale on Orcad OPTOISOL library none on the MOCs are working :( it always tells me about some ISO. What is that ? Can anyone upload a working example?

Allegro keeps giving me an error message everytime i try to Place Manually a symbol (6032 CAP)...the message says:
""E- (SPMHGE-82): Pin numbers do not match between symbol and component. Run dev_check on device file for more information.""
I have saved the *.dra file and *.psm along with the *.pad in the working directing of my curent design. Also, I changed the path of these location from the User Preferences.
This is a polarized CAP that has "P" and "N" as Pin names in the schematics in Caprture CIS and I named the pins in the *.dra file exactly the same and in the correct order.
The pins are electrical and NOT mechanical, i double checked this.
When I try to place the symbol, I can see the outline of the symbol but it does not let me to place due to the above message.
Please, anybody can help?

How do I turn off pad to pad drc checking so errors do not show up in a symbol / footprint?
I want pad to pad checking ONLY for symbol to symbol, not within a symbol.

I have to layout a hairpin filter at XBand in Oracad layout V10. I have a dxf of the filter and it is only on the top layer. It does not use padstacks and it has a rather complex geometry - gaps, turns, and transmission lines. How do I place it on the layout of the artwork as a component? Preferably I would like to use the dxf.

I have a question about BB VIA. I have a 6 layers board, which needs BB VIA.
If I connect from top layer to third layer, should I use a layer 1 to layer 2 bb via then layer 2 to layer 3 bb Via, or I need define a bb via from layer 1 to layer 3?
