I want to launch the allegro inside the installed spb 17.0 as following:
$:cd /opt/cadence/SPB17/tools.lnx86/bin/allegro_cshrc
$:csh
$:source allegro_cshrc
$:allegro &
the terminal shows problem like this :
/opt/cadence/SPB17/tools.lnx86/bin/apd.exe: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libXext.so.6: undefined symbol: _XGetRequest
and I have checked that this path: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/ does have libXext.so.6
so how should i do to make it right?

DE CIS is giving a DRC error on my 5V regulator output because it is connected to a power NET called VCC_BAR.
"ERROR(ORCAP-1628): Possible pin type conflict U13,OUT Output Connected to Power"
Obviously the error is caused by the fact that the LM7805 OUT pin is identified as a Output pin, which is a fact, And also because the DRC rules in my schematic are set accordingly. Power to Output =>Error
The question is: How do I handle this in the proper way?
Changing the part pin to passive eliminate the error but it does not represent the reality. Power Regulators are utilized all the time for PC-board power and the output must be connected to a power NET. How is this situation handled with respect of the rules and regulations of the PC-board industry ? Cheers

I got this error "Library is open: please close to run this script", when i executed a script second time after i got a syntax error on first execution.The tcl script is for library manipulation. Visually i cant see any opened library. How can i close this library. which is opened in background while scripting, i assume. Is there any command?

Is there any support for using dual or multiple monitors with Capture?
The only thing I can seem to do is open Capture on my main monitor and get out of full screen, then drag the right side of the Capture window across to the other side of the second monitor so that the one Capture window spans two monitors. This is a huge pain because when you open schematic sheets, they open spanned across two monitors so you have to grab those and resize each one to fit on one monitor.
In a lot of other programs such as software IDE apps and Altium, you just drag the tab from one of the windows from the main screen to the next monitor and it opens another instance of the app and opens the tab window within it.
How do other people here deal with wanting schematic windows on more than one monitor? I see that I can drag the directory window which contains the .opj and design tree into another screen without issue, but I cannot do this with schematic windows. Thanks very much.

We use a script on a command line allegro execution that opens a board file creates PDFs and then exits. This works in 16.6 and if I don't use the -nographic mode:
setwindow pcb
generaledit
create fabpdf <= SKILL PROGRAM
fillin yes
setwindow pcb
generaledit
exit
fillin no
We run this on the command line:
allegro -nographic -noconfirm -product Allegro_Performance -option Allegro_PCB_HighSpeed_Option Allegro_PCB_Mini_Option -s SCRIPTNAME BOARDNAME
If I remove the -nographic option, the script runs fine. But I don't want the graphic window to open.
Has anyone seen this? Is there a work around?

I started a new job a few months ago and I've noticed some oddities in the behavior of the symbol editor.
At my previous job, when I edited a dra file and clicked on the save icon, it would save the psm file automatically.
At my new job, I have to go to the menu and click "create symbol" to update the psm file.
I can't seem to find anything in the user preferences that would initiate the "auto save psm" after editing the dra.
Anyone know what the difference may be?
I want to pass a property I created in Capture to PCB Designer then output that property to a report. For example if I put the cost or my name as the symbol creator. I want this to show up in a report in PCB Designer. How do I do this?
I define two resistors with values of bom ignore... in two different ways.
I regenerate my netlist..
it automatically opens my board, so I generate a report with the BOM_IGNORE property.. and nada.
Clearly this simple concept is far beyond my level of competence...

I have a current fairly complex 8-layer rigid-only PCB .BRD design that was created for a client about a year ago. They are now needing me to take the existing design, add (x4) flex cables extending out from it and then add (x2) small 2 layer rigid-only PCBs to the design.
In the 'Allegro / OrCAD 17.2 Rigid Flex Design Creation Best Practices.PDF' supplied by Cadence, on page #24, it is mentioned that when creating new PCB stackup zones for rigid-flex:
"When a zone is first defined with pre-existing symbols, traces, vias, or conductor shapes within the boundary, the stackup assignment for that zone may fail. The symbols, traces, vias, conductor shapes must be moved out of the area where the zone will be defined, and the stackup reassigned. After that the moved or deleted objects can be replaced. Traces and shape placement within a zone will fail if the layer they are defined on no longer exists."
So in another words, before adding PCB stackup zones to an existing PCB design, all objects (copper, vias, parts, etc.) need to be moved (or exported to subdrawing(s) ) out side the Board Geometry OUTLINE (now in vs 17.2 it is DESIGN_OUTLINE) subclass.
This existing design has many different power net dynamic shapes on 2 inner plane layers. When I attempt to save these layers in a subdrawing file and import them back in, the priority of many of the shapes get changed, therefore messing up many of the power planes. Also because of this, due to the dynamic net assignment of copper / vias when importing these shapes back in, some parts that on the top and bottom layers have their pins / copper shapes reassigned to incorrect nets.
In the past, I have been using a separate Skill file 'assign_net' to re-assign pins / vias / copper to the correct nets. It works but it is a bit cumbersome to use, especially if there are a large number of nets to be re-assigned.
Questions:
1) Is there a suggested way of taking an existing rigid-only PCB design over to rigid-flex without this much complexity (to be able to create new PCB stackup zones)?
2) In 17.2, is there a way to re-assign nets to copper?

One of my devices have IBIS-AMI 5.1 version used in Post SI simulation, I understand from local vendor team that there is no support for IBIS-AMI models in current version 16.6
Does that mean we cannot use Cadence tool to simulate AMI models (is it a tool deficiency).
Are there any alternatives to convert IBIS-AMI to DML. My Post SI analysis is on HOLD and I am unable to find the proper solution to the issue. Kindly guide thru.

Hi everyone....in Orcad9.2 I could create GenCad file that my cm's use for their flying probe testing. In 16.6 there doesn't seem to be anything other than Fabmaster which they cant use. What is being used to replace GenCad?

Windows 10 upgrade - 64 bit Professional
Problem:
Libraries located on server and accessed by mapped drives. Allegro can not located the mapped drives if any other application (i.e. file explorer) is open and pointing to mapped drive.
My work around is ensure no other application is open and accessing the mapped drive.
I have not confirmed this any on other machines yet in our domain.
Lucky me I was a Beta for this conversion :)
Has anyone else seen this, and resolved this issue?

My first design. Most of my silkscreen reference designators are properly displaying properly, but a few are not. If the text is on the right layer, and showing up, why would they not respecting the width and character spacings?
First design with Allegro 17.2. I have a schematic with 3 sheets of hierarchical design. My customer wants me to lay out one sheet, and use it to drive the other 2 sheets to be identical in the layout. Can anyone give me direction?

I am facing an issue where parts selected in the Allegro PCB editor doe not get highlighted in the schematic and vise versa.
Also, when in manual placement mode when selecting group of parts to be placed in the PCB this is not happening unlike in the past.
I have generated the netlist as usual via the netlist button and then imported in Allegro.
Please advice.

After the recent refresh an old problem with this forum has resurfaced: Old threads are showing up at the top the list... Today a thread last posted to in 2014 is the top thread. Can someone from Cadence please fix this?
I picked out a tip while browsing other posts. It said "funckey m move" would give me a shortcut for move, by just hitting "M" on my key board. I set that up, along with shortcuts for Rotate and Spin. It worked for awhile, then quit working, and re-entering it didn' help. I also expected it to be a permanent setup, being available every time I ran Allegro.
Also, when I use spin or rotate, and I have a group of parts selected, each part rotates about its individual origin, instead of around a reference point. Is that the way it's supposed to work?
