I have reinstalled OrCAD Capture 16.6 twice now and can't seem to solve this. The program is rendered unusable without the "place component" feature. When I press P or "Place Part" nothing happens - the place window does not come up anywhere.
Possibly related, when I hit "save project as" a white window comes up blank and I cannot press anything:

I am using OrCAD PCB Professional 17.2, I updated to the latest hotfix version(048) and now my Capture part editor crashes every single time. It crashes if i try to either edit my old libraries or create a new library.
Is there any solution to this problem? It used to work fine in previous hotfix versions.
Kindly help me with this issue.

I am using OrCAD 17.2 Hotfix 049. When a refdes is duplicated unknowingly, is there a way to find it out immediately before running DRC ?
If in a design where R1 to R10 is placed. Unknowingly if R5 is edited and changed to R4 is there a way where the duplication is displayed immediately like " Duplicate reference R4 " without running DRC?

So this is a little bizarre. I upgraded from S047 to S049 to test the newer functionality that got included in the S049 release. After the update my hot key assignments which are in my ,env file don't work correctly.
In particular two hot key assignments basically do nothing at all. It is like the keyboard is not getting recognized correctly by the Allegro. In testing my other hot keys work fine.
The two entries I have are
funckey CEnd Shell notepad $localenv/env
funckey CHome 'source -q $localenv/env; echo ENV file reloaded'
In allegro they basically Open and then reload the .env file so I don't have to leave Allegro to actually edit the .env file.. Kind of cool and handy little macros..
I re installed twice and updated to S047 from the base release and then did the upgrade to S049 from S047. On both occasions and after reboots etc the result remains the same. Those two hot keys just wont work.
They work without issue in S047 and in prior releases too, never had an issue with them all along. I was testing both Orcad std and Orcad Pro S049 Release on Win 10.
Has anyone seen anything similar ?

I am using OrCAD 17.2 H049. I want to generate the BOM with the company logo and few key notes/ disclaimer. PFA of sample. How can i generate it ?
I saw an old post about this same issue for Capture 16.6 that was solved by an update. I'm currently running Capture 17.2-2016 S048 on Windows 10. I have the same issue that while other tabs or windows close with Ctrl+F4, I can only close Property Editor windows using the mouse right-click menu as shown below:
Note that in this menu it shows that Ctrl+F4 should work to close the tab, but it doesn't. Any ideas how to fix this?

For example, the line width I set in the Part Editor feels good, but when I update it to the schematic,
it becomes very thick, as shown in the picture below.
This problem is not found in the old version of the Part Editor, and the new version has always existed.
When you are viewing a Symbol Package and wish to revert to looking at only one instance of the symbol it's difficult to get out of that mode.
Previously one could use "View" Part on the tool bar to return to one instance of the part. You could actually easily cycle between view part and view package. To get out of the view package menu you have to X out.
It is no longer possible to easily cycle between views.

On a related note at the schematic level, One of the salient features of capture is the Full Screen cursor ( F6) that's handy for lining things up.On windows 10 the FSC is causing screen artifacts during a move symbol operation.Needless to say there is one benefit to that artifact. ( You can see where the symbol was ) until you have finished moving it.
I was wondering if anyone is on win 10 does it do the same thing for you with FSC enabled (F6-KEY) to turn on and off. ?
I'm using allegro 16.6 and whenever i perform a command, my cursor jumps from its initial position to the "options" window. Any command i perform, add connect, move, everything. And it happens whether I click the icon or perform the command using a stroke. Please someone help me.
Often when doing RF structures I need a cline where one end is connected to ground (grounded stub).
The way I have been doing it is to add a static GND shape on the layer I need to connect to, and then do a net short operation to the cline. This way becomes a bit tedious and messy once the number of these RF grounded stubs gets high - so I was wondering if anyone has found a better way to do this?
The mess comes mostly from the large number of static solid shapes on the ground layer, waived DRC or multiple net short operations when counting vias and the need to modify as you go.

Up until now, the company I work for has only used one pcb fab/assembly house and there hasn't been any problem meeting their design rules. But now there is a push to have a second source for our pcb assemblies. The problem is that the new fab house has a different set of footprint requirements and of course the existing ones we generally use do not meet these new requirements. I'm sure that this must come up in the industry from time to time and I'm curious to see how others are handing it.
Any thoughts?
I am using Allegro DE-HDL and the Allegro PCB editor.
Capture tool is getting crashed whenever i invoke the newly introduced Constraint manager(capture) in ISR48(17.2) . Updated to ISR 49 as well and renamed Capture.ini folder along with deleting Capture workspace in regedit but no results.
Any other workaround or solution
It seems that any of the arrow combinations with the shift key no longer move the symbol by the grid settings. Anyone else see this ?
I've used hierarchical blocks but have never seen this issue where the block doesn't link to the schematic. After placing normally double clicking on the block will go to that instance of the schematic page. And when right clicking you synchronize and descend are not greyed out. Any ideas why this might happen? Here is a screen capture of the grayness.
If you installed HotFix S049, can you install HotFix S048 back over the top of it?

I have searched under u commands and i not have find an uncolor command.
Is there the possibility to create a such command of method (by skill language) to create a button the works (like assign color) (in the opposte way) to uncolor nets selected?

I am designing a board which will have three flex tails connected to a rigid pcb.
Do I need to create three flex stackups, one for each tail.
Or can I just create the Primary stackup for the rigid boad and one stackup for the three tails connected to the rigid board.
The signals running on the flex tails will all be on the same two inner layers.
