I am designing a 0.4mm pitch 32 pin QFN Package(.dra). So far i have used only 0.5mm pitch packages.
I read that for these fine pitch packages solder mask needs to be designed which looks like this on the right:
So question is: this large solder mask opening should be defined in the .pad file or
Should it be done in the .dra file and if yes, what is the common procedure for this

I have mechanical drill holes next to SMD pins in my footprint and i am getting DRC error:
Mechanical Drill Hole to Pin spacing
Constraint Value: 0.2032mm
Actual Value: 0.1352mm
I have changed all the values in constraint manaager to 0.127mm but still getting this error.
I sometimes come across designs from the US where the tradition seems to be that soldermask dimensions are the same as the copper pads and that the board fabricator performs the swelling. Is there any routine that can take a whole lib and do a "group" edit/swell of the soldermasks with a specified oversize as parameter?

I'm trying to run a PSPICE simulation on my schematic in OrCAD Capture 17.4, but i only want to do it on one page of the schematic, not all of them.
I've associated SPICE models to the necessary parts, but the simulation doesn't run because of errors ("less than 2 connections at node x" and "node x is floating") on other parts of the project.
Can you set PSPICE to only run on one page, and to ignore the rest of the schematic?
Is it possible to remove the Netgroup Definition from the Net Alias. I though this switch would work.
Ex.:
Netgroup: Test
Members: Dat[0..1], RAS, CAS
Test.Dat0
Test.Dat1
Test.RAS
Test.CAS
Would prefer that "Test." netgroup name not be visible when ripped from the bus
When I try to export to PDF from Capture CIS, the session log shows "(::capPdfUtil::printPdf) Generating PDF file from postscript ...." but no file is ever generated. This function was working yesterday when I shutdown. I've tried changing the Postscript Driver from "Microsoft Print to PDF" to "OrCADPS_17.2" after creating a generic printer with that name but no luck.
Without even an error message I'm not sure what the issue is. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hi everyone! I'm working on a small battery powered PCB which will fit inside a small plastic "hockey puck" container. A number of these "pucks" will be sold together with a "charging doc" which will store and charge the pucks when not in use.
I'm trying to work out the best way to charge the battery. I'm thinking of having metal "pads" on the puck that pass through the puck's plastic shell and then make contact with the PCB on the inside, and having a similar system on the charging dock. I'm thinking of having SMD "contact sprints" mounted to the underside of the PCB and have these mate against metal pins that protrude through the puck, but it's the later of which I'm struggling to find. For a visual, think about "restaurant pagers" and how they charge.

I have been testing out Allegro/Orcad 17.4 with a view to moving to it from 17.2. I ran into a strange issue that is causing the display to be slow doing pan & zoom on a board.
The issue directly pertains to the Allegro Start up page. When the page is enabled opening a board and doing a pan zoom etc looks good. But since I don't want that startup page I made a trip to the user preferences and disabled it via "Allegro_No_Startpage" setting.
After restarting allegro the startup page is indeed gone but the display slows down for pan and zoom etc. Pretty weird. In particular it is noticeable while zooming. Removing the allegro_no_startpage option from my .env file returns display performance to normal.
If anyone is on 17.4 maybe they could confirm before I open a bug report.
In addition there is other weirdness. If I zoom in close to a pin the net name on the pin looks fuzzy. On 17.2 this is not the case. On 17.4 it is kind of like the font for the net name is not getting rendered via open gl but by some other method instead.

i there a way to change/cycle thru layers instead of turning it on and off in the view-->visibility..
like for example, if I press cursor key down, it will change layer from current layer to next layer, so if I press the cursor key multiple times the layer will change from top,then layer 2, then 3 and so on...

Is there a skill out there that can go through all shapes on any layer that are dummy nets and assign them to the net that they are touching? Basically if a shape is a dummy net and touching another net, I want it to be assigned to said net.
This same thread is in the PCB SKILL forum as well (https://community.cadence.com/cadence_technology_forums/f/pcb-skill/43333/shape-with-dummy-net-to-assign-net-that-the-shape-is-touching). I just did not know which one would actually get an answer quicker. I see mention of skills here all the time.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I am using OrCAD PCB Editor 17.4 (P002). The new function is highliting of symbols in Capture by selecting it in PCB Editor. This function is very ,usefull but works 12 times only. After 12 selecting in PCB Editor the software should be restartet ans the selecting function works 12 times again.
Everybody knows this Problem?

Hi everyone. I searched the forum and Google to see if my question was already answered, but I could not find anything. So, at the risk of being publicly humiliated by exposing my ignorance, I decided to create this new post. Maybe it'll help someone else if there is an answer.
My question is simple: Every time I start the OrCAD PCB Designer, it automatically opens my last project. I don't want it to do this. While I'm in the OrCAD PCB Designer, I don't see any option under the File pull-down menu to "CLOSE" my project. I've gone through the very long User Preferences listing, and I cannot find anything pertinent there (other than the feature to turn off the annoying Startpage). OrCAD Capture does NOT do this, and it will open totally blank. I want OrCAD PCB Designer to do the same thing.
Is there a setting somewhere to accomplish this? Thank you in advance.

I don't consider this a bug. It tells me v17.x introduces an easy method I haven't found yet..
In Orcad 17.2, when you have a lot of projects and schematic pages open, there is an easy way to navigate from the schematic page you're in to its project tree: the project manager button (the tree icon).
In Orcad 17.4 however, pushing that button doesn't do anyting... How do you select a parent project while you are editing a schematic page?

I was trying to install Cedence OrCad version 17.4-2019 and i' having problem to choose the installation for all users. Due to Policy restriction i need to install all software under Program FIles but when i run the installer the Option "Anyone who use this computer (All Users)" is Grayed Out and not selectable. It seems that i can install the software with the option "Only for me"
Is it true? i tried to run the installer as administrator but nothing has changed.
There is a way?
