Files for manufacturing
Hi guys,
i produced the following files as directed earlier by Kabalee, but maybe i did something wrong!
1.Assembly Top and Bottom,
2.No of Signal Layer
3.Mask Top and Bottom /Paste Top and Bottom
4.SilkScreen Top and Bottom
5.Drill file
6.Netlist file in IPC-356
i sent these to my manufacturer and he Gerbers are ok except
- no outline of PCB given is files( i taught i had this included , should be easy fix)
- No readme file giving specifications, for example material type and thickness and so on
how can i produce the 2nd point above? Thanks

Heterogenous part issue
I am trying to create a heterogeneous part in OrCAD which contains 3 different pats. And I am unable to add more than a sing part in drawing even though I chose 'Parts per Pkg: 3"
Can anyone please help letting me know if I need to add all 3 different parts in one drawing or should I create 3 different drawings with same name (Cadence didnt let me do either one)

Zoom with Mouse wheel in Design Entry CIS v.16
How can I use mouse wheel to zoom in(forward) and out(backward) in version 16 of SPB, in Design Entry CIS?
I tried to put this for example:
set buttonfactor = 1
button wheel_up "zoom in $buttonfactor"
button wheel_down "zoom out $buttonfactor"
button Cwheel_up "zoom in $buttonfactor"
button Cwheel_down "zoom out $buttonfactor"
in the "env" file in the directory directed by HOME variable in Windows. But it doesnt help, anyone can tell me what has to be done to make it happen? thanks

What to use OrCad or Design Entry?
I remember long time ago used Orcad, Now I have to use what comes within latest SPB package. And I see there is Design Entry CIS, and OrCad CIS.. they do look similar, I am already studying the docs and everything but I wanted to get some quick info, whats the deal in having two packages?
whats their difference? And which of those I should use to target my ongoing future designs?
For example in SPB 16.6 I notice there is PCB Editor, which launches Allegro PCB, but thats still not the case with schematics, because of OrCad and DE CIS, so what should I target to?

Parameterized JFET Model
Hello All,
To start off, I am using Allegro Design Entry CIS and AMS Model Library. I am trying to figure out how to parameterize a model parameter for a JFET. After much searching I found another post in this forum from April of last year that did not get a conclusion. I also found a statement in what looked to be a Cadence sales brochure stating "Also included are more than 4,500 parameterized models for BJTs, JFETs, MOSFETs,..." of which the link is attached below. However I could find no other references to these models. I do want to know how to create a parameterized model, but if it has already been done then no need for me to recreate the wheel. So to recap
1. Are there parameterized models for JFETs somewhere, and where?
2. How do I create a parameter in a model file?

Stability analysis of an ECU by using PSPICE
Hi,
I am doing the stability analysis (need to look at the amplitude response, phase response and phase delay) of an electronic circuit which will drive a DC motor (ofcourse its a closed loop system). The input to the circuit varies from +10 V to -10V and circuit contain opamp ELH0041. I am using ORCAD PSPICE for the modeling and would like to know, what kind of source model I can use for this analysis and what kind of analysis I should select from PSPICE.
Any inputs on this will be highly appreciated

function key assignment with right click options.
Problem: I want to assign a function key to automaticlly do a right click and a snap_to segment vertex while I am in a slide command. Does anyone know how to do this? Usually I do not mess with the function keys too much and my right click finger is starting to get real sore. ;-) Thanks.

Where are my user preference settings saved? I used to have an "env" file with my preferred setting saved. It appears that it is no longer used by Allegro.

What is the via tied to?
Hi Guys
i have an 6 layer board. Stack up:
- TOP/GND
- GUARD
- GUARD 1
- GUARD 2
- GND
- BOTTOM/GND
i want to place 2 via array structures 1 from layer 1 to 6 which will connect all GND and the other from layer 2 to 5 to connect all GUARDS.
i setup the BBvia. the question i have is when i pour the copper for each layer using dynamic shape and assign net as supply_0 for GND and and assign net as GUARD for the 3 Guard layers. will this do what im trying to do in connecting the appropriate layers to eachother. i also set the thermal relief to full contact.
i ask this because i cant tell by looking at it what layer the vias are connected to and what layers they are not. How can i tel? i need to send this for manu by 12 today so advice needed. Thanks guys

New 16.5 user
Hi all,
I am new to PCB Editor 16.5 coming from Orcad Layout 15.7. I have been using Orcad products to do pcb layouts since it first came out back in the 80's. I would consider myself an expert user in Orcad Layout. I have found the transition to 16.5 to be nothing short of painful and I am looking for some guidance to help ease the pain..........
Any tips / lessons learned from folks that have successfully made this jump would be appreciated.

OrCAD PCB designer lite, no footprionts available?
Hi,
I just installed OrCAD PCB designer lite, but when i add a part to a project, and try to view its footprint, i get the following error,
"ERROR(ORCAP-1732): Could not retrieve PCB Footprint property. Unable to show footprint in viewer."
am i doing somethign wrong here? please advise

is it ok to leave these warnings alone?

Strange Error when accessing OLB symbol library
We recenlty upgraded from 16.3 to 16.6. since then ive been experiencing the following Errors when i open the company OLB library.
ERROR(ORCAP-1558): Unexpected error in database access.
ERROR(ORDBDLL-1016): File not found
At first i was able to just click through the errors and it would end up working, it was annyoing but i could make my canges and additions and all was OK, but just today it has now got worse where it closes the library when it gets the error. So now i cant get my work done. None of the other engineers here are expereincing this issue on their machines.
Any Ideas? What database is it referinging to, the olb file is local to my machine is it calling that library a database?

Overlap dynamic shape
hi all,
I have a problem with overlap dynamic shape which was due to multiple copper pour on top side of my board. Due to this problem, whenever I try to generate top layer artwork, it will prompts me to delete off the shapes. The quantity of the overlap dynamic shape was too many until I was frustrated. Currently the only way is I have to screen through my whole board to manually pick up those small shapes and then deleted it off. Is there any way to generate the overlap dynamic shape report which lists out all those overlapped shapes?

Grid Spacing. In the UI how do I know what grid I am using ? while routing.
This is kind of a silly question but when I am routing in traces I sometimes wonder what my grid spacing is set to. Is there any way to have the user interface at the bottom part of the window show what your grid is currently set to, kind of like how the net name shows up when you route stuff in. Any hacks most welcome : )
Seriously though What I find my self doing is this. I have macros for the grids assigned to hot keys when I press the hotkey there is a little space next to the pick and relative buttons at the bottom of the UI that will flash for a second as the macro runs that shows what my grid is set to but after the macro runs that space becomes blank again. Happens real fast too so it is difficult to catch what gets displayed.
Now what would be really nice is this. At the bottom of the ui there is a little box that displays the grid setting like 25, 50 , 100 etc what ever the grid is set to but if you click in that little display box you could select various grid sizes that you might have populated it with earlier on. Doing this would mean, no need for the macros and no need to go up to the tool bar and click setup grids.

Via array functions
Hi guys,
basic question really.
im building a basic 2 layer board. my routing is on the top. when i was defining the copper area's for top and bottom i assinged them to net supply_0. which im saying is GND.
i want to connect the top copper planes to the bottom copper plane using via patterns for shielding and stiching. when in the via array function i assigned the via net as supply_0. and ran i looked at this on the 3d viewer and it looks as if it is connecting the bottom etch to the top etch.
i just wanted to know is this the correct way of doing it? and will this suffice for copper shielding around traces and stiching.
